HBA Cares
Connecting community needs to the resources of the housing and building industry.
Supporting the Community We Love
- HBA Cares is the charitable foundation associated with the Housing & Building Association of Colorado Springs (HBA).
- The primary mission is to support nonprofit organizations and programs that provide housing and living assistance to individuals and families in need in the Pikes Peak Region.
- We also offer support for the charitable activities of HBA members and their employees by partnering with them on projects they're committed to.
- Through the help of HBA members and the community, we make financial contributions, organize volunteer help and in-kind donations, and help raise awareness of non-profit organizations.
HBA Cares’ touch can be seen in numerous areas throughout the community:
-
The Community Home. Using the profits from the sale of this $1,000,000 + home, thousands of dollars were donated to seven local non-profit agencies.
- Partners in Housing Shelter Project. HBA Cares is helping HomeAid Colorado build two new tri-plexes that will provide warmth, comfort and shelter for six, formerly homeless, local families.
Making a Difference
Penrose Hospital Guest House Project. HBA Cares and local builders are working with Penrose Hospital to build the John Zay Guest House near the hospital. Named in remembrance of past Penrose Hospital Chaplain, John Zay, the guest House will be a “home away from home” for patients receiving extended treatment at Penrose Hospital, as well as a respite for their family members.
Open House. These projects show how HBA Cares partners with members on projects they support. Local builders, combined with proceeds from open house visitors, pooled their resources to raise much needed funds for the Care and Share food bank.
Hurricane Katrina Support. Through HBA Cares, members of the HBA made significant contributions to the Salvation Army to assist with local relocation and housing efforts for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Silver Key. For nearly 50 years, the HBA has supported Silver Key because senior citizens are most impacted by the rising costs of housing. HBA Cares has continued that longstanding relationship by contributing proceeds from the Parade of Homes to Silver Key.
